Happy Endings - Danny

Hi! I’m Danny and I’ll be two years old in May 2007. I spent most of my life (until this past December) in a kennel, in a cage in a barn with gaps in the walls so that the snow and wind blew right through. Then one day the nice lady from Oklahoma Westie Rescue sprung me and my Westie family and friends from that awful place! Boy, was I glad to see her! She took me to her nice warm house and she took me to see a doctor who gave her medicine to put in my ears so they wouldn’t hurt anymore. They hurt really bad when she first freed me, but she took care of that. I really like that lady!

Then I went to stay with my foster mom and dad for a few weeks. There were lots of other puppies there to play with and I had a good time. My foster mom and dad took care of my ears where the nice lady left off so pretty soon I was feeling almost good as new! I liked it at my foster home because I got lots of loving and cuddling from my foster mom and dad. They even made sure that Santa Claus found me and brought me a toy that I loved to play with. But all I really wanted for Christmas was a forever home.

I got my wish a week after Christmas, just before the New Year, when my new mom and dad and my Westie sister, Katy, came to meet me. I liked them right away and Katy and I played and chased each other all over the house. I was sad to leave my foster mom and dad, but I was very happy to be going to my forever home with my forever family.

I’ve been in my new home for about two months now and I love it! I have my own food and water bowls, but sometimes I like to eat out of Katy’s. She usually doesn’t mind. I have my very own bed, with a nice soft liner and a warm blanket and Katy has her own, too. Sometimes we like to switch, just to confuse Mommy and Daddy. I really like it when we all get to sleep in the big bed, but that doesn’t happen nearly often enough because, as Daddy pointed out, we need a bigger bed! Personally, I think it’s plenty big enough because I like to cuddle!

My mommy gives me treats when she says “sit” and “down”. She says I’m a very smart boy (and quite handsome, too). But I don’t like to “stay”. I still get a little nervous when I get too far away from my people. It’s hard to remember sometimes that they are my people forever and they will never leave me and not come back for me. I’m very attached to my mommy and like to be with her whenever I can. But I also love lying on the couch with Daddy and watching TV. And I particularly love chasing squirrels with Katy in the back yard.

When I think where I was just a few months ago and where I am today, it seems unbelievable! I hope every puppy who needs a forever home will get one, like I did. Thank you nice Westie Rescue lady! And thank you to my foster mom and dad! I am one happy boy!
