We had been considering adopting a dog for months. What kind of dog…we didn’t know. All we knew was that it would either be from a humane society or a rescue because there are far too many homeless dogs out there. Knowing this, we could not justify buying a puppy from a breeder. Our consciences wouldn’t allow it. We looked at Labradors, and Cocker Spaniels since those were the two breeds we were familiar with, but nothing ever really “clicked” with any of the dogs we considered. I was looking on the Petfinder web site one day when I ran across a Westie named Zach. I called the shelter where he was, but he had already been turned over to a Westie rescue group. I called about him, and was then put in contact with Theresa Stewart. We filled out an application and were matched with Connor. Theresa brought him to our home one night, and we picked him up the following weekend.

Connor has been a perfect match for us. He is a very loving and sweet dog. He loves to play ball and loves to lay behind me on the top of my chair. He loves to go on “yard patrol” and protect the house from the evil squirrels and birds. He follows us all over the house. He has just been a joy. He also loves to lie in our arms like a baby. Yes, he is spoiled, but after being juggled around for the first couple of years, he deserves to be spoiled. I’m not sure if we rescued him or he rescued us, all I know is I can’t imagine my life without that adorable little face to greet me every day
